SINP 2026 – MAJOR CHANGES TO ALLOCATIONS AND PRIORITY SECTORS

Saskatchewan has officially released its 2026 immigration plan under the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP), introducing several critical updates that directly impact both international workers and Canadian employers.

🎯 Total nomination quota for 2026: 4,761 spots
✅ At least 50% reserved for priority sectors:

  • Healthcare

  • Agriculture

  • Skilled Trades

  • Mining

  • Energy

  • Manufacturing

  • Technology

❗ A maximum of 25% of nominations are capped across lower-priority sectors:

  • Hospitality (15%)

  • Trucking/Transport (5%)

  • Retail (5%)

🎓 750 spots are specifically reserved for graduates from Saskatchewan working in priority sectors.

⚠️ Applications for Capped Sectors can only be submitted during 6 intake periods per year:
January, March, May, July, September, and November.
Outside these windows, no applications will be accepted.

💼 FOR EMPLOYERS

  • Unused Job Approval Letters (JALs) from 2025 will be voided.

  • No more year-round submissions for capped sectors — miss the window, miss your chance.

  • Attempting to manipulate or change your NAICS code to bypass rules? The system now performs cross-checks and will flag discrepancies.

🧑‍🎓 FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS & WORK PERMIT HOLDERS

  • Only graduates from Saskatchewan institutions remain eligible under the Student category.

  • PGWP holders are now only eligible under these five streams:
    ✔️ Student
    ✔️ Tech
    ✔️ Agri-Food
    ✔️ Health
    ✔️ Employment Offer

  • No more preference for graduates from outside Saskatchewan — even if you’ve worked in the province.

  • Spousal Open Work Permit (SOWP) holders will no longer qualify under many categories due to low retention data.
