IRCC UPDATE – TFWP & WAGE ASSESSMENT 2025

🗓 On July 3, 2025, IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada) confirmed the following:

👉 When assessing work permit applications under the Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP), IRCC will continue to rely on the wage stated in the approved LMIA (Labour Market Impact Assessment).

🔍 What does this mean in practice?
✅ If your employer already has a valid LMIA:
→ The wage listed in the LMIA is the official, recognized wage,
→ IRCC will not apply any new minimum or median wage changes that come into effect after the LMIA is approved.

📌 In other words:
→ You won’t be refused a work permit just because prevailing wage rates have increased after your LMIA was issued.

• Employers with a valid LMIA
• Applicants preparing to submit a work permit application under TFWP
