Changes to Off-Campus Work Regulations for International Students in Canada 2025

๐Ÿ”” On April 23, 2025, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) officially updated the policy regarding off-campus work for international students:

โœ… Increased the allowable off-campus work hours from 20 hours/week to 24 hours/week during regular academic sessions.
โœ… Removed the previous temporary public policy that allowed students to work more than 20 hours/week.

๐ŸŽฏ This means:

  • International students are now permitted to work up to 24 hours per week during regular school terms.

  • Students can still work full-time during school-designated breaks such as summer break, winter holidays, and spring break.

๐Ÿ“ Note: Students must continue to maintain valid study status and comply fully with the conditions of their Study Permit.

๐Ÿ‘‰ This change provides international students with better opportunities to:

  • Increase their income to support living expenses.

Enhance their work experience and skills in the Canadian environment.
