Changes to Off-Campus Work Regulations for International Students in Canada 2025
๐ On April 23, 2025, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) officially updated the policy regarding off-campus work for international students:
โ
Increased the allowable off-campus work hours from 20 hours/week to 24 hours/week during regular academic sessions.
โ
Removed the previous temporary public policy that allowed students to work more than 20 hours/week.
๐ฏ This means:
- International students are now permitted to work up to 24 hours per week during regular school terms.
- Students can still work full-time during school-designated breaks such as summer break, winter holidays, and spring break.
๐ Note: Students must continue to maintain valid study status and comply fully with the conditions of their Study Permit.
๐ This change provides international students with better opportunities to:
- Increase their income to support living expenses.
Enhance their work experience and skills in the Canadian environment.
