Newfoundland and Labrador – Implementation of New Priority Immigration Processing Model
📅 February 19, 2025 – The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador has officially transitioned to the Expression of Interest (EOI) model for two programs:
✅ Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP)
✅ Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP)
🔍 THE NEW PROCESS CONSISTS OF 2 STEPS:
1️⃣ Submit a short form detailing:
🔸 Occupation
🔸 Education
🔸 Language proficiency
🔸 Willingness to reside in the province
2️⃣ The application will be reviewed, and if eligible, the applicant will be invited to submit a full application for NLPNP or AIP.
📌 Benefits of the new model:
✔️ Strategically allocates immigration spaces throughout the year
✔️ Prioritizes occupations in high demand, such as health care and education
✔️ Helps employers meet local labor market needs
⚠️ NOTICE FOR APPLICANTS WHO HAVE ALREADY SUBMITTED APPLICATIONS:
- Applications submitted before the transition will remain valid on the Immigration Accelerator platform
- Applicants will be contacted regarding the next steps
- Some applications will proceed directly to the processing stage, while others may need to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI)
⏳ PROCESSING TIME:
📍 Decisions may take 3 months or longer in some cases
