BREAKING NEWS – CANADA INCREASE IN PROOF OF FUNDS FOR STUDENT SEPTEMBER 1, 2025
🗓 IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada) has just announced that, as of September 1, 2025, the minimum financial requirements for international students applying for a study permit will rise significantly.
📌 Key Points to Note:
→ You must prove access to this amount without relying on employment in Canada
→ The new thresholds apply to all applications submitted on or after September 1, 2025
📁 IRCC-accepted financial documents include:
✔ Proof of tuition and housing payments
✔ Canadian bank savings account
✔ GIC (Guaranteed Investment Certificate)
✔ Bank statements from the past 4 months
✔ Letter of financial support from an individual or organization
✔ Scholarship or sponsorship from a Canadian source
💡 Applicants from countries with foreign exchange controls must also demonstrate ability to transfer funds internationally.
🧭 SICON Immigration recommends:
→ Students, parents, and education advisors should update their financial plans now, especially if planning to apply after September 2025.
