Canada Increases Application Cap for the Parents and Grandparents Sponsorship 2025

The Government of Canada has officially announced an increase in the number of sponsorship applications it will accept under the Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP) — up to 25,000 applications in 2025.

🔹 Earlier this year, in January 2025, the government stated that no new applications would be accepted and only 15,000 applications from 2024 would be processed.

🔹 However, on March 7, they confirmed that invitations would still be sent out in 2025, and now, the official new cap has been set at 25,000 applications (including both leftover applications from 2024 and new intake for 2025).

📝 Who is eligible to receive an invitation this year?

➡️ Canadian citizens and permanent residents who submitted an “Interest to Sponsor” form during the 2020 intake but have not yet received an invitation, will have a chance to be invited in 2025.

📌 If approved, parents and grandparents will be granted Canadian Permanent Residency (PR) — allowing them to live, work, and access public healthcare like Canadian citizens.
