CANADA EXPANDS RESETTLEMENT SUPPORT FOR PALESTINIANS FROM GAZA 2025

📅 IRCC Update – June 16, 2025

The Government of Canada has announced an expansion of its resettlement policy, allowing more Palestinians from Gaza to access federally funded settlement services.

🔹 Key updates:

  • Palestinians from Gaza arriving in Canada under temporary resident status may now be eligible for settlement support funded by the federal government.

  • New instructions allow the annotation “MOME2023” to appear on the immigration documents of eligible individuals.

  • This note helps Settlement Provider Organizations (SPOs) identify who is entitled to services such as:
    ▪️ Initial orientation
    ▪️ Community integration support
    ▪️ Language training
    ▪️ Employment counselling

  • IRCC may also use this annotation to determine eligibility for transitional financial assistance.

📌 Important context:
These measures are part of Canada’s temporary response to the crisis in Israel and the Palestinian Territories.
The issuance of Temporary Resident Visas (TRVs) for certain extended family members is also being handled with greater flexibility during this emergency period.

🧠 Take note:
If you or a loved one is a Palestinian currently in Canada, or you are applying for a TRV to leave Gaza, check whether you qualify for these newly expanded resettlement benefits.
