BC PNP 2024 REPORT RELEASED: WHERE ARE THE OPPORTUNITIES FOR YOU
On June 23, 2025, the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) officially released its 2024 Statistical Report & Year in Review.
🔍 What does the report reveal?
📌 Top sectors in 2024 — and which ones are quietly being phased out:
The most nominated occupations in 2024 were in:
- Education (especially Early Childhood Educators – 1,279 nominations, +52%)
- Healthcare (+71%)
- Veterinary Services (+17%)
- Construction (+675% – prioritization began in late 2023)
Meanwhile, the tech sector saw a steep drop, accounting for just 16% of all nominations — down nearly half from 30% in 2023.
➡️ This is clearly a “public service rescue strategy.”
If you’re outside these priority sectors, you’re competing with the entire pool. Tech still has a place, but BC is no longer “tech-centric.” The priority is now spread across more sectors.
📌 BC is shifting focus away from Metro Vancouver:
- 42% of approved nominations came from outside Metro Vancouver
- Key growth regions: Vancouver Island, Thompson-Okanagan, and Cariboo
- In the Entrepreneur stream, 75% of nominees were from non-urban areas
👉 The message is clear: if you’re only targeting Vancouver, you’re limiting your chances.
📌 Wages are shifting too:
- The average wage level dipped slightly due to prioritization of essential but lower-paying jobs (childcare, community health)
- Still, Skilled Workers earned a median of $72,800/year — a solid benchmark if you’re not in a priority occupation
📌 BC’s nomination quota has been slashed:
BC requested 11,000 nominations for 2025
But IRCC only approved 4,000
➡️ Competition is at an all-time high.
There’s no longer space for weak or borderline applications.
Only applicants with clear alignment in occupation, region, and wage will stand out.
🌍 Where are most nominees from?
Top 5 source countries for 2024 (SI stream):
- India
- China
- Philippines
- Iran
- Nigeria
➡️ If you’re from one of these countries, be ready — you’re competing in the most crowded lanes.
