LMIA for Multiple Work Permit Applications under the Recognized Employer Pilot (REP)

Update Date: October 24, 2025

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has announced an important update to the Recognized Employer Pilot (REP) under the Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP).

Key change:
A single Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) can now be used for multiple work permit applications, as long as positions remain available on that LMIA.

IRCC has also introduced a procedure to verify whether positions are still available under a REP LMIA, ensuring greater transparency and consistency in application processing.

This update represents a significant improvement for compliant employers, helping them save time and administrative costs while streamlining the process for foreign workers applying for work permits through the REP.

The REP is designed to simplify processes for employers with strong compliance records and ongoing labour needs, reducing administrative burdens for both businesses and government agencies.

SICON Immigration will continue to monitor updates from IRCC and support employers and foreign workers in maximizing the benefits of the Recognized Employer Pilot.
