CAREGIVER PROGRAM NOW ACCEPTS ONLY 6 MONTHS OF EXPERIENCE 2025

If you previously applied for Permanent Residence (PR) under the Home Child Care Provider (HCCP) or Home Support Worker (HSW) pilot and were refused due to not meeting the 12-month work experience requirement, don’t miss this important update:

🔹 1. Reduced Work Experience Requirement

The required work experience has been reduced from 12 months to just 6 months.
Applies to applicants in the “gaining experience” category – those who did not meet the experience requirement at the time of their initial PR application.
You may now be eligible to reapply for PR immediately.

🔹 2. Expanded Definition of Eligible Work Experience

Canada now accepts foreign work experience (outside Canada).
Experience must have been accumulated within 36 months before the date you demonstrate eligibility.

🔹 3. One-Time Opportunity to Submit Proof of Experience
Applicants have only one chance to submit their work experience documentation.
IRCC will make a decision based solely on the initial submission – no additional documents can be added later.

🔹 4. Updated Work Permit Instructions
📌 Occupation-Restricted Open Work Permit (C90):
Previously, applicants under the caregiver pilots were required to work at least 6 months after receiving the C90 work permit before being eligible to apply for PR.

📌 Bridging Open Work Permit (A75):
Instructions have been updated to align with the new Ministerial Instructions (MI) for HCCP and HSW.

The new policy is now in effect – only 6 months of experience (including outside Canada) is needed.
However, IRCC will only consider your first and only submission of work experience – no second chances.

Here’s how SICON helps ensure you don’t miss this final opportunity:

🔹 Step 1: Review your previous PR application – identify the refusal reasons and reassess eligibility.
🔹 Step 2: Re-evaluate eligibility under the new policy – including work experience, time period, and permit type.
🔹 Step 3: Guide you in gathering and formatting the required documentation – aligned with IRCC’s updated standards.
🔹 Step 4: Prepare and submit a complete PR application, including a strategic cover letter.
🔹 Step 5: Assist with work permit updates (C90/A75) if needed, to prevent delays or gaps.
🔹 Step 6: Represent and support you throughout the process – from submission to final decision.
