NEW WORK PERMIT FOR IEC PARTICIPANTS CURRENTLY IN CANADA 2025

📅 IRCC Update – June 11, 2025

If you’re in Canada with a valid work permit under the International Experience Canada (IEC) program and have submitted an application for a second IEC participation, here’s what you need to know:

🔹 From now until December 1, 2025, you can request a new work permit from within Canada via the IRCC Web Form if:

• You still hold a valid IEC work permit

• You have received a Letter of Introduction (LOI) for your next IEC application

📌 Why this change?
As of December 23, 2024, CBSA no longer allows flagpoling (leaving Canada briefly to the US or Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon to activate a new permit). This means you can no longer leave Canada to activate your LOI as before.

🎯 Current solution:
Submit a work permit request through the IRCC Web Form—no need to leave Canada.

🧠 Strategic notes:

• Only applies if you’re currently in Canada with a valid IEC permit

• Does not apply if your current permit has already expired

• Submit the request properly and at the right time to avoid refusal
