IRCC Simplifies PRRA Hearings: No Consent Form Needed for Remote Participation

 🗓 Update date: April 29, 2025

🔔 From now on, individuals participating in a PRRA (Pre-Removal Risk Assessment) hearing remotely will be considered to have given implied consent — no need to sign or submit any additional forms!

What’s new:

Consent to participate remotely is now implied – There’s no longer a requirement to submit a “consent and waiver” form.
Information about the risks of remote participation will be clearly outlined in the hearing notice. Read it carefully!
✅ Don’t want to participate remotely from home? You can:

  • Request a remote hearing at an IRCC office (e.g., if you don’t have access to a device or stable internet at home).

  • Request an in-person hearing if you have specific needs (e.g., health, language, or other vulnerabilities).

⚠️ Important: Requesting a remote hearing at an IRCC office is no longer considered a special accommodation — it will be facilitated upon request.

⚖️ If you or someone you know has an upcoming PRRA hearing, make sure to read the hearing notice carefully and submit a request if you prefer a different format.
