IRCC to Update Application Fees on December 1, 2024

On December 1, 2024, application and processing fees for various visa, work, and study applications to Canada will increase.

1. IRCC will increase fees for several types of applications for temporary residents seeking to extend their status or enter Canada, including:

– Restoration of temporary resident status applications (for visitors, workers, and students):
– Authorization to return to Canada applications:
– Criminal rehabilitation applications (including for serious criminality):
– Temporary Resident Permit (TRP) applications:

2. What happens if you have already paid the old application fee?

In most cases, if you submit a complete application with the old fee, you do not need to worry about fee changes.

It is recommended to apply online as submissions are received immediately, ensuring they are valid.

For applications sent by mail, there may be delays. However, if the application is sent before the fee change, it will still be accepted.

Fees may change during this time. In most cases, an application will not be rejected if you:

– Paid the full, old fee;

– Submitted a complete application;

– Mailed the application before the fee change.

If you need to pay an additional amount due to the fee increase, IRCC will provide instructions on how to pay the difference.
