2026 PARENTS AND GRANDPARENTS SPONSORSHIP (PGP)
📌 As of January 1, 2026, IRCC will not be accepting any new applications under the Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP) until further notice. This pause applies to both sponsorship and related permanent residence applications.
✅ However, up to 10,000 applications submitted under the 2025 invitation round will continue to be processed in 2026.
📬 If you were invited to apply in 2025, your application will still be processed as long as:
- You submitted it on time and through the correct online portal
- You included all required documents (or submitted additional documents by the given deadline, if requested)
- The information matches what you submitted in the 2020 Interest to Sponsor form
⛔️ No new PGP applications will be accepted starting in 2026 until further instructions are issued.
🎯 SICON REMINDS YOU:
- If you submitted an Interest to Sponsor in 2020 but haven’t been invited yet, you may still be considered in future draws — don’t miss any emails from IRCC.
- If your financial eligibility has changed, make sure to review it before applying to avoid refusals or returns.
- Those waiting for the program to reopen should consider alternative immigration pathways or begin preparing financial documentation in advance.
