The immigration programs of Saskatchewan have completely closed 2024

Canada’s immigration landscape is constantly changing, and Saskatchewan is no exception. As of August 30, 2024, several immigration programs have officially closed, significantly impacting the immigration plans of many.

The programs that have been discontinued include:

  1. Health Professionals
  2. Hospitality Sector Project
  3. Hard-to-Fill Skills Pilot
  4. Long-Haul Truck Driver Project
  5. Semi-skilled Agriculture Worker with an Existing Work Permit

However, as of September 1, 2024, Saskatchewan has announced two new immigration programs:

  • Agriculture Talent Pathway: This program focuses on applicants with experience in agricultural fields. Overall, this new program is quite similar to the previous Hard-to-Fill Skills Pilot but has simplified the list of eligible occupations, targeting specific areas within the agriculture sector.
  • Health Talent Pathway: This program aims to attract international health professionals to address the shortage of workers in the province’s healthcare system. Applicants with experience in this field can choose to open a SINP profile independently or link it with Express Entry (EE), which requires English/French proficiency at CLB 7.

The launch of these two new programs by Saskatchewan reaffirms Canada’s ongoing priority to grant permanent residency to applicants with experience in the Agriculture and Healthcare sectors.

If you have experience in these fields, it will open more opportunities for obtaining permanent residency (PR). Therefore, you should consider gaining work experience in these areas to increase your chances of PR in the future.
