New update: family reunion opportunity in canada only in october 2023

On September 8, 2023, in Ottawa, Canada,

The Immigration, Refugee, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announced that they will continue the family reunification program by accepting up to 15,000 complete sponsorship applications under the Parent and Grandparent Sponsorship Program this year.

On October 10, 2023, IRCC will begin sending out Invitations to Apply (ITA) to 24,200 people who have submitted sponsorship applications, with the goal of receiving up to 15,000 complete applications. THESE INVITATIONS WILL ONLY BE SENT OUT WITHIN A 2-WEEK PERIOD.

Due to the remaining backlog from 2020, IRCC will randomly invite individuals from this backlog instead of accepting new applications. This process is similar to what happened in 2021 and 2022.

If anyone submitted an expression of interest in 2020 but did not receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) in 2021 or 2022, you should check the email account you provided when you submitted your Expression of Interest (EOI).

Those who receive invitations in 2023 will continue to submit electronic applications through either the Permanent Residence Portal or the Representative Permanent Residence Portal.

A NEW SOLUTION for those who wish to reunite with their parents and grandparents in Canada but do not receive an invitation in 2023 is to consider the SUPER VISA, which allows for MULTIPLE ENTRIES and has a validity of UP TO 10 YEARS.

According to the latest regulations, the Super Visa will be VALID IN CANADA for UP TO 5 YEARS INSTEAD OF A MAXIMUM OF 2 YEARS as it was before, and it can be extended for an additional 2 years. These changes make it easier for Canadian citizens and permanent residents to reunite with their parents and grandparents in Canada for a longer period.
