Immigration Quota for New Brunswick Cut by 50% in 2025

FREDERICTON (GNB) – The federal government of Canada has made significant changes to immigration programs, resulting in a sharp 50% reduction in New Brunswick’s permanent resident nomination quota for 2025. Specifically, the quota will drop from 5,500 spots in 2024 to 2,750 spots this year.

The new allocation will be divided between two main programs:

  • Provincial Nominee Program (PNP): 1,500 spots
  • Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP): 1,250 spots

📌 Important Notice for Immigrants:
New Brunswick’s immigration programs will open in the coming days. However, due to the reduced quota, priority will be given to sectors such as healthcare, education, and construction. Other sectors will face restrictions or significantly lower allocations.

📢 Notice for Businesses:
The provincial government acknowledges that many businesses will be impacted due to limited access to immigrant workers. WorkingNB will support businesses in finding alternative labor solutions.

🌟 For Those Planning to Immigrate to New Brunswick:

  • Closely monitor official updates from the provincial government to know when programs reopen and to understand specific application requirements.
  • If you work in priority sectors like healthcare, education, or construction, there are still significant opportunities. Prepare your application thoroughly and apply early.
  • For those in other sectors, consider exploring other provinces in Canada with less affected quotas or look into alternative immigration pathways like Express Entry.
