Canada’s Immigration Levels Plan for 2025-2027
October 24, 2024 – Ottawa – Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has announced the 2025-2027 Immigration Levels Plan. For the first time, the plan includes targets for both temporary residence and permanent residence under Economic, Family, Refugee, and Humanitarian streams. Both temporary and permanent immigrants play an essential role in economic growth, addressing labor shortages, and diversifying communities in Canada.
🎯 Temporary and Permanent Residence Targets:
- Temporary Residence: Canada will reduce the rate of temporary residence to 5% of the population by 2026. The targets are set at 673,650 people for 2025, 516,600 for 2026, and 543,600 for 2027.
- Permanent Residence: Canada plans to welcome 395,000 people in 2025, 380,000 in 2026, and 365,000 in 2027, mainly focusing on highly skilled workers in essential fields like healthcare, construction, and other critical sectors, especially those who have already lived and worked in Canada.
❤️ Special Support Policies:
- Family Reunification: Always maintained at 22% of the total immigration target.
- Refugee and Humanitarian: 15% of the total immigration target, upholding Canada’s tradition of supporting those in greatest need of protection.
- French-Speaking Priority: Increasing the target for French-speaking residents outside Quebec to 8.5% by 2025 and reaching 10% by 2027, aimed at enhancing the diverse representation of the population nationwide.
In summary, this plan may be less favorable for individuals without Canadian work or study experience, those outside the prioritized professions, or those who do not meet new financial requirements. However, for those who qualify and meet the criteria in key fields, the plan still offers promising opportunities.
