Canada Strengthens Visa Control and Border Security 2025

 

 

📢 Starting January 31, 2025, the Canadian government has introduced new regulations to tighten the cancellation of temporary resident documents and enhance border security. These changes aim to ensure transparency and prevent fraudulent activities within the immigration system.

🔍 Key Changes:

âś… Immigration and border officers now have the authority to cancel eTAs (Electronic Travel Authorizations) and TRVs (Temporary Resident Visas) in cases where:

  • The document holder is no longer eligible due to providing false information, having a criminal record, or being deceased.
  • There is no clear evidence that the individual will leave Canada at the end of their authorized stay.
  • The document has been lost, stolen, destroyed, or damaged.

âś… Additionally, work permits and study permits may also be canceled if:

  • The holder has become a permanent resident.
  • The holder is deceased.
  • The document was issued due to an administrative error.

đź“Ś These regulatory changes have been published in Canada Gazette II and will continue to be improved in the future to protect Canada from potential risks.
