Canada Removes PGWP Program Restrictions for Bachelor Graduates at Colleges

📌 From March 2025, the Canadian government will adjust eligibility criteria for the Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP), creating more favorable conditions for international students graduating with Bachelor’s or Master’s degrees from Canadian colleges.

🔔 Important Updates Summary:

  • From November 1, 2024: International students enrolled in certificate, diploma, or bachelor’s programs at Canadian colleges must graduate from specific eligible programs to qualify for a PGWP.

  • From March 11, 2025: Canada officially removes the restriction on eligible fields of study for students graduating with Bachelor’s or Master’s degrees at colleges. Students can freely choose their desired majors while remaining eligible for a PGWP.

📌 Note:

Students pursuing non-degree programs (certificates or diplomas) at colleges, universities, or polytechnics must still graduate from programs within designated eligible fields to qualify for PGWP.

💡 Eligible fields for restricted programs (non-degree) include:

 ✅ Agriculture and Agri-food
✅ Healthcare
✅ Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM)
✅ Trades
✅ Transportation
✅ Education

👉 These changes will help Canadian colleges become more competitive in recruiting international students and expand opportunities for employment and long-term settlement in Canada.
